British Empire Medal Presentation-12th June 2018
On the 12th of June, Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire, Lady Susan Haughey, presented the British Empire Medal to those within Lanarkshire who have served their community.
The British Empire Medal recognises those who have provided a service to the community without seeking any recognition or reward, but rather have provided these services because it is the right thing to do. The presentation featured an introduction by Clerk to the Lieutenancy and Chief Executive of North Lanarkshire Council Paul Jukes, a welcome from Provost Jean Jones, a summary of citation and presentation of medals from Paul Jukes and Lady Haughey CBE, and closing remarks from Provost Ian McAllan. Royal Visit To Hassockrigg Ecopark, Shotts – 30th April 2018
HRH The Princess Royal visited Healthcare Environmental Group at the Hassockrigg Ecopark, Shotts on 30th April 2018.
Welcomed by Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Lanarkshire Gavin Whitefield CBE DL, The Princess Royal on arrival was introduced to the Deputy Provost of North Lanarkshire Council, Tom Castles, MSP for Airdrie and Shotts, Alex Neil and Managing Director of the Healthcare Environmental Group, Garry Pettigrew.
Mr Pettigrew then escorted HRH on a very informative tour of the facility during which the Princess Royal spoke with members of the Senior Management Team and the workforce, in the offices, at the waste processing and energy recovery unit and at the vehicle workshop. Continue reading →

Midwives and maternity support workers at University Hospital Wishaw received royal recognition for their work as Her Royal Highness (HRH) The Princess Royal visited their award-winning maternity service.
During her visit, The Princess Royal also formally opened the new alongside midwifery unit.
