GIRLS’ BRIGADE QUEEN’S AWARD PRESENTATION

On behalf of Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire, Lady Haughey CBE, Deputy Lieutenant Alastair Peat DL attended the Annual Dedication Service of 4th Coatbridge Girls’ Brigade Company in Middle Church, Coatbridge on Sunday 6th October 2024 and was privileged to present the Queen’s Award to two long-serving members of the Company.

Sophie Duncan and Hannah Watt joined the Company at the age of five, and have worked their way through all sections before going on to gain this highest award in Girls’ Brigade.

During the service, both girls were given the opportunity to describe the various activities they had undertaken to meet the requirements of the Award, personally, within the Company and also the wider community, and this highlighted exceptional levels of effort and commitment over the last two years. Both girls also acknowledged the support they had received from the officers in the Company, as well as parents and family.
