A Service of Remembrance took place at the Cenotaph, Duchess of Hamilton Park, Motherwell on Sunday 12 November.
Lady Susan Haughey CBE Lord Lieutenant represented Her Majesty The Queen and laid a wreath on behalf of the Lanarkshire Lieutenancy. Lady Susan Haughey said “I was especially honoured to participate in this ceremony having only recently been appointed as Lord Lieutenant”.
Cllr Jean Jones, Provost of North Lanarkshire, also laid a wreath and said: “I was honoured to lay wreaths at local War Memorials on behalf of the people of North Lanarkshire.
“People from communities across our area turned out in huge numbers to honour the memory of the fallen.”
The officiating clergy were Rev Gavin Black of Crosshill Parish Church, Fr Bill Bergin of St Teresa’s Parish Church.
Music was provided by the Salvation Army Band.
The Depute Provost, Cllr Tom Castles, laid a wreath at the War Memorial in Airdrie.
