Feedback from Representatives of Dalziel Rugby Club

“It was a great honour and privilege to be nominated  by Deputy  Lieutenant Brian Miller DL to attend  the Royal Garden Party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh on Tuesday the 2nd of July 2024. We were invited as representatives of Dalziel Rugby Club during the club’s centenary year.

The Royal Garden Party was a fantastic affair, bringing together guests from various walks of life to celebrate their contributions to society. On the day, the King and The Queen Consort were joined by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. The event officially began at 4 PM with the playing of the National Anthem by one of the two military bands present. The Royal Family then made their way through the garden, engaging with guests along designated lanes. We then enjoyed a selection of exquisite teas, sandwiches, and pastries, all while strolling through the beautifully manicured gardens of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

We rounded off a great day with dinner in the historic Tolbooth pub and restaurant before retiring to our hotel for the night. To our great surprise, after breakfast the next morning, we found ourselves in the right place at the right time as the royal cars left the palace to head to St Giles Cathedral for the annual Order of the Thistle celebration. On this occasion they were also joined by Prince William, The Prince of Wales.

It was a truly wonderful experience and a great honour for the club to be invited. Our heartfelt thanks go to Brian Miller for the support and guidance given.”
