In March 2018 the Lieutenancy launched the first of the Citizenship ceremonies in Lanarkshire involving secondary schools and by the end of this year a total of 32 schools will have participated in the Citizenship ceremonies involving around 1300 pupils and 80 teachers from schools in both North and South Lanarkshire Councils .
The photograph attached is of the pupils from Chryston High School who attended the recent Citizenship ceremony on 18th December 2019 hosted by Provost of North Lanarkshire Council , Councillor Jean Jones and also attended by Deputy Lieutenant John McKenzie DL .
The Lieutenancy is very appreciative of the tremendous support from both councils for this initiative which continues to go from strength to strength and now includes a very successful secondary school public speaking competition on Citizenship which has been staged on two occasions .
