Lord Lieutenant Lady Haughey CBE attended a visit to St Andrew’s Parish Church, Carluke by Her Majesty’s Lord High Commissioner to the 2018 General Assembly of the Church of Scotland on 21st May 2018.
The purpose of the visit , hosted by the Reverend Helen Jamieson , was to see the Drop-In Support Project for people with memory difficulties and their carers .Established in 2012, initially meeting once per month, 6 people attended the first session in the church hall .Since then the project has grown substantially with sessions now taking place every fortnight with 50 to 60 people in attendance . His Grace John Montagu Douglas Scott, the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry , KBE,DL,FSA,FRSE was appointed as the Queen’s personal representative to this year’s Assembly and as well as making the opening and closing addresses he also undertook a number of official visits during the week .
The visit to the Carluke church included an informal lunch and everyone present greatly enjoyed the songs performed by pupils from the nearby Victoria Park School who have provided very valuable input to the project over the years.
